Vivici Raises €12.5 Mn in Round from European Innovation Council

Vivici, a Dutch startup that produces dairy proteins using precision fermentation, has secured €12.5 million in funding from the European Innovation Council (EIC) Accelerator Programme.

The company will use the funding to expand the market reach and supply of its Vivitein™ protein ingredients, while also accelerating the development of new products for customers and consumers.

Earlier this year, in February, Vivici raised €32.5 million in a Series A funding round led by APG, on behalf of pension fund ABP, and Invest-NL, helping support its continued growth and commercialization efforts.

Stephan van Sint Fiet, CEO of Vivici, “Securing the support of the EIC is a powerful endorsement of what we are building at Vivici. It tells us that Europe sees the same opportunity we do, to turn the promise of precision fermentation into a commercial reality, at scale, for the benefit of customers and consumers. This funding allows us to move faster on exactly that.”

“Customer demand for our ingredients is already strong, and this backing lets us meet it with the supply and pace the market expects,” said Simon Penfold, Chief Commercial Officer of Vivici.

Vivici was founded in 2023 to bring the benefits of precision fermentation technology to the commercial market and make animal-free dairy proteins more widely available.

Precision fermentation uses a combination of traditional fermentation methods and modern biotechnology to produce dairy proteins without using animals. According to Vivici, this approach can help meet the growing global demand for protein in a more sustainable way while maintaining the same taste, nutrition, and affordability as traditional dairy products.
