SUMMARY
- Ferm Labs has raised €3 million to scale its bioprocessing platform and expand globally.
- The funding was led by CDP Venture Capital, with participation from Fund F, Redstone, Euregio+, Alpine VC, and Loacker.
- Founded in 2025, Ferm Labs develops clean-label B2B flavour systems for the food industry.
The new funding will help Ferm Labs scale its bioprocessing platform and expand its presence in the global clean-label ingredient market.
The funding round was led by CDP Venture Capital through its Green Transition Fund, supported by NextGenerationEU. European investors Fund F and Redstone, together with Euregio+ and Alpine VC also participated. Food industry company Loacker joined the round as well.
“The era of flavour trade-offs is officially over. Kokumesan proves what our platform can do in cheese flavouring, but it is just our launchpad. We are building a category-defining B2B ingredient engine – powering the next era of natural food by uniting deep-tech bioprocessing with uncompromising taste at global scale,” said Lüpold.

“We essentially broke the math on industrial flavour kinetics. By accelerating fermentation speed and yield, we eliminated the cost penalty of natural ingredients while delivering a richer, cleaner profile at an unbeatable cost-in-use,” said Baroni.
“Ferm Labs has built an extraordinary DeepTech platform that redefines efficiency, sustainability, and flavour performance. We are thrilled to lead this round and support Stephanie, Mattia, and the team as they scale manufacturing and drive European expansion,” said Enrico Filì, Head of Green Transition Fund at CDP Venture Capital.
Ferm Labs was founded in 2025 by serial entrepreneurs Stephanie Lüpold (CEO) and Mattia Baroni (CTO). The company is developing a new range of B2B flavour systems for the food industry.
Ferm Labs develops clean-label ingredients designed to deliver the full taste and sensory experience of traditional ingredients. The company says its solutions can also help food manufacturers reduce costs while using more natural ingredients.
Food manufacturers have traditionally had to choose between low-cost synthetic additives and natural ingredients that can be slower and more expensive to produce. Ferm Labs aims to solve this problem by offering ingredients that combine naturalness, performance and cost efficiency.
