SUMMARY

  • Estonian smart building automation company Bisly has raised €4.3 million to fuel its expansion into the DACH region and the UK, and to launch a new office in Poland—one of the fastest-growing markets for smart building technology.

In its home market of Estonia, Bisly already leads, with its systems installed in most new residential apartments sold in 2024.

Buildings make up around 40% of the EU’s energy use, yet 75% remain energy inefficient. As energy costs rise and regulations tighten, the need for affordable, scalable automation is growing. Unlike legacy systems that are costly and complex Bisly offers an AI-powered, cloud-based platform that cuts setup costs by up to 50%.

Its integrated hardware-software solution manages energy use and indoor environments in both new and retrofit projects. At its core is patented digital twin technology, which creates a real-time virtual model of each building to optimize performance. The system also works with third-party devices, giving developers greater flexibility and avoiding vendor lock-in.

According to Bisly, every tonne of CO₂ saved through its tech can be up to six times more cost-effective than reducing emissions through transport electrification—making smart buildings one of the fastest, most affordable ways to fight climate change.

Ants Vill, CEO and co-founder of Bisly, explained: The climate crisis hasn’t paused – 2024 was yet again, the hottest year on record. At a time of geopolitical and economic turbulence, we need practical solutions that work and have been deployed successfully in the field.

Our technology helps solve the biggest source of energy consumption: buildings. Saving energy here doesn’t just help the environment, it frees up grid capacity for the next wave of energy demand, from AI data centres to mass-scale EV deployment.

Bisly’s automation system is deployed across both residential and commercial properties, offering features like centralized configuration, digital twin-based diagnostics, AI-driven building management and reporting tools tailored for developers and property managers. These capabilities have attracted a broad range of regional partners, including Endover, Liven, Crown Estate, Bonava, Pro Kapital, Reterra, Hansab, Onninen and One-Gruppe, among others.

The company continues to scale its presence through a growing network of local partners, while strengthening technical and commercial support in each market.

We want to thank our customers such as Endover, Nobe, Liven, Bonava, Nordecon, Onninen, and Oma Ehitaja, among many others, whose feedback and push for high reliability and affordability helped shape a product that’s now enabling mass adoption of smart building automation across Europe, added Vill.

The funding round was led by 2C Ventures, with continued support from existing investors including Aconterra, Pinorena, the founders of Foxway, and SmartCap—Estonia’s state-backed VC fund, whose Green Fund investment is backed by the EU’s NextGenerationEU recovery initiative.

Martin Koppel, Partner at 2C Ventures, commented: We’re proud to support Bisly in scaling their technology across Europe and beyond. Buildings account for nearly 40% of global CO₂ emissions, and yet much of the sector remains underserved by digital innovation. Scalable, smart energy management is critical to reducing this footprint and Bisly’s platform brings that much-needed intelligence and efficiency to the built environment.

The new funding will fuel Bisly’s go-to-market efforts in Germany, the UK, and Poland. With offices already established in Tallinn, London, and Berlin, the company is also expanding its engineering team to develop a new wireless product line aimed at retrofitting existing buildings.

To support this growth, Bisly is hiring across technical and sales roles in key markets and has appointed a Polish-speaking Head of Demand Generation ahead of opening a full office in Warsaw. After tripling its core revenue last year, the company is on track for similar growth in 2025.
