Dutch Startup EFFECT Photonics Secures Extra €20.4M In Series D Round

Eindhoven-based EFFECT Photonics, which develops advanced coherent optical solutions for data centers and edge networks, has raised an additional $24 million (approx. €20.4 million) as part of its Series D round.

This takes the total amount raised in the round to $62 million (around €52.6 million).

“This funding milestone reinforces the strong market demand we’re seeing and allows us to execute aggressively on our roadmap” says Roberto Marcoccia, CEO of EFFECT Photonics. “We’re grateful for the continued support of our investors and partners as we scale to meet the needs of a rapidly growing optical interconnect market.”

Over a year after raising €34.95M in its Series D round, EFFECT Photonics has announced new funding.

Founded in 2010 by Boudewijn Docter and Tim Koene-Ong, the company is a spin-off from Eindhoven University of Technology. It builds photonic chips that use light instead of electricity to transfer data.

EFFECT Photonics creates compact, integrated solutions using its own technologies like Digital Signal Processing, Forward Error Correction, and Ultra-pure Light Sources.

Its products are designed to be affordable, scalable, and reliable—ideal for 5G networks, cloud services, and edge computing.

Headquartered in Eindhoven, Netherlands, the company also has offices in the UK, US, and Taiwan, supported by a global sales network.
