Dougs Raises €50 Mn to Expand AI-Powered Accounting Services for Small Businesses
Oct 15, 2026 | By Oliver Bennett

Lyon-based technology company Dougs has raised €50 million in funding. The company provides accounting and financial management services to small businesses.
The funding came from Expedition Growth Capital, a growth investment firm with offices in London and Berlin. The firm supports fast-growing software and AI companies founded by entrepreneurs.
Expedition Growth Capital manages more than €900 million in assets. In December 2025, it also raised €323 million for its third fund to invest in growing European businesses.
“We are chartered accountants who happen to write our own software. That is the whole point,” said Patrick Maurice, CEO and co-founder of Dougs.

“Automating most of the bookkeeping was only the starting point. AI lets us go much further and rethink how accounting is actually produced. We built our own agentic platform, with a harness that plugs straight into our tools and encodes our accounting expertise. Our accountants work with it every day, and it’s already running entire stages of production end to end. The next milestone is financial statements generated autonomously, then reviewed and signed off by an accountant. AI does the heavy lifting while our accountants bring the judgement,” said Florent Galland, COO and co-founder of Dougs.
“Artificial intelligence is radically transforming the services sector, but its impact is all the greater when underpinned by deep domain expertise. Dougs is a rare example of this fusion in the accountancy industry. The company is mastering the optimal mix of deterministic code, frontier AI and certified professionals to deliver industry leading service and value to a rapidly growing base of 50,000 customers. We are convinced that this combination makes it one of the best-positioned players to shape the next generation of accountancy in Europe,” said Oliver Thomas, founder and Managing Partner at Expedition Growth.

Founded in 2015 by chartered accountants, Dougs is registered with the French Order of Chartered Accountants. The company has been profitable since its launch and funded its growth on its own until its first funding round in 2023.
Unlike companies that sell accounting software to accountants, Dougs works directly with its clients and manages their accounting and financial needs.
Its platform offers a range of services, including company formation, accounting, legal support, payroll, invoicing and a business account. The company also provides wealth management services through a dedicated subsidiary.
