SUMMARY

  • Spektr, a Copenhagen-based company building AI infrastructure for compliance in financial services, has raised $20 million in Series A funding led by NEA, with participation from Northzone, Seedcamp and PSV Tech.

The funding will be used to scale its platform and expand global adoption across financial institutions.

Compliance teams today still rely heavily on manual processes including reviewing documents, mapping ownership structures and assessing risk across multiple data sources. Despite advances in technology, much of KYC and KYB work remains time-consuming and fragmented.

Spektr is addressing this challenge with a platform of AI agents designed to automate key parts of compliance workflows. These agents handle tasks such as company research, data interpretation, business verification, and risk assessment generation. This allows compliance professionals to focus on reviewing and approving results rather than collecting and analysing information.

Spektr’s platform enables financial institutions to design their own onboarding and monitoring processes and deploy networks of AI agents within them.

This transforms traditionally manual, analyst-driven workflows into automated, scalable operations that improve efficiency, reduce workload, and speed up compliance processes.

“Compliance technology has mostly focused on workflow and data collection,” said Mikkel Skarnager, CEO and co-founder of spektr. “But the real bottleneck has always been the work itself – analysts researching companies, interpreting information, and documenting decisions. spektr automates those tasks with AI agents designed specifically for KYC and KYB compliance.”

“Financial institutions are under constant pressure to do more compliance work with fewer resources,” said Luke Pappas, Partner at NEA. “spektr is tackling the most manual part of compliance operations in financial services. Their approach has the potential to redefine how compliance operations are run.”
