CSignum Secures £6M Series A Funding to Revolutionize Underwater IoT Communication
Apr 22, 2025 | By Kailee Rainse

CSignum, an innovator in wireless IoT communication for challenging environments, has raised £6 million in a Series A funding round. The investment was led by Archangels, Par Equity, and Scottish Enterprise, with participation from British Business Investment (BBI), Raptor Group, Deep Future, SeaAhead’s Blue Angel Network, and prominent U.S.-based angel investors.
Founded in 2020, CSignum is addressing the growing demand for reliable, real-time data transmission in underwater and underground settings. Its flagship EM-2 solutions use patented electromagnetic field signaling (EMFS) to transmit data seamlessly through water, ice, soil, rock, and concrete—environments that have long defied traditional wireless technologies.
EM-2 has a wide range of applications, including water quality monitoring, wireless under-ship inspections, and security for critical underwater infrastructure like offshore wind turbines and oil platforms. The company also offers CSignum Cloud, a data services platform with dashboard and analytics tools currently deployed on river water quality monitoring projects.
The funding will accelerate CSignum’s expansion, enabling it to grow its engineering team, enhance product development, and strengthen its market footprint across the UK, EU, and US. The company is strategically positioned to meet rising environmental compliance demands, including large-scale, real-time monitoring requirements under the upcoming AMP8 regulatory initiatives.

“This investment reflects the increasing need for innovative underwater communication technologies,” said Jonathan Reeves, CEO of CSignum. “It will help us scale our operations and empower industries to manage their resources more effectively.”
Dan McKiddie of Archangels called CSignum’s technology a “game-changer,” while Claire Clamm of Par Equity noted the company’s strong market differentiation and global potential in underwater data transmission.
With this latest funding, CSignum is set to lead the transformation of underwater IoT communication, offering unparalleled solutions in a space long limited by technological constraints.
