Coherence Quantum Raises €2.78 Mn in Seed Funding to Advance Quantum Computing Technology

Espoo-based quantum technology company Coherence Quantum has raised €2.78 million in Seed funding to develop technology that helps control and operate future quantum computers.

SUMMARY

  • Coherence Quantum raised €2.78 million in Seed funding.
  • The round was led by Lifeline Ventures, with participation from Mårten Mickos.
  • Aashish Sah, Suman Kundu and Erkki Soininen founded the company in 2026.

The company is building an integrated system for sending signals and controlling quantum processors at extremely low temperatures. Its technology aims to improve the infrastructure needed to run solid-state quantum computers.

The funding round was led by Helsinki-based early-stage investor Lifeline Ventures, with participation from technology entrepreneur Mårten Mickos.

Petteri Koponen of Lifeline Ventures said, “The quantum industry has proved that increasingly capable processors can be built. The next challenge is building the infrastructure that allows them to scale. Coherence Quantum is going after a fundamental part of that problem. They have an exceptional technical team with a clear view of where the industry is heading and the ambition to build far more than a single component. If quantum computers are going to scale, the architecture around the qubits has to scale with them, and we’re backing them to become a key part of how larger quantum computers are built.”

Sah said, “Quantum computers won’t scale by adding qubits alone. The infrastructure around them has to scale too. We’re starting with signal conditioning and building towards higher-density interfaces and, ultimately, more integrated cryogenic control. Our aim is to give quantum-computer builders an architecture that can support larger systems without wiring, cooling requirements, and complexity growing at the same rate.”

Coherence Quantum was founded in 2026 by CEO Aashish Sah, CTO Suman Kundu and Chief Product Officer Erkki Soininen. The company grew out of research carried out by Aalto University’s Quantum Computing and Devices group. It is also supported by founding advisor Mikko Möttönen, a professor of quantum technology at Aalto University.

Aashish Sah is a quantum physicist who specialises in superconducting qubits and how they interact with their surroundings. Suman Kundu is an experimental quantum physicist who played an important role in building and setting up Aalto University’s 20-qubit Q20 quantum computer.

Erkki Soininen holds a PhD in Physics and previously worked in a product leadership role at Bluefors, a company specialising in cryogenic technology. The founders bring together expertise in quantum physics, quantum computing and product development to support Coherence Quantum’s work.
