Broswarm, a defense tech startup founded in 2023, has secured €800k in funding from ScaleWolf, a hybrid accelerator and fund for defense technology.
SUMMARY
- Broswarm, a defense tech startup founded in 2023, has secured €800k in funding.
- Broswarm is focused on revolutionizing mine detection with advanced multisensor fusion, AI, and drones, aiming to make demining operations faster, safer, and more efficient, ultimately saving lives and making land safe again.
Funding Utilisation
This investment will help accelerate the development of Broswarm's X-Ray Eagle sensor a cutting-edge tool that enhances mine detection by creating clear 3D images of buried objects from up to 10 meters above the ground. The technology, which won first place at the NATO Innovation Challenge, is designed to improve demining operations, especially in Ukraine and other conflict zones.
Traditional mine detection technology is often outdated and inefficient, requiring sensors to be nearly at ground level, which leads to false positives and wasted resources. In Ukraine, where over 30% of the land is suspected to be contaminated with mines, dense vegetation and rough terrain make detection even more challenging. With millions of landmines impacting farmland, infrastructure, and military movements, there’s an urgent need for better solutions.

Broswarm's X-Ray Eagle sensor uses advanced radio waves to generate 3D images of buried objects. Mounted on drones, the sensor can detect mines up to 0.5 meters deep, operating from higher altitudes than traditional methods.
Ernestas Žvaigždinas, co-founder and CEO of Broswarm, said: “Our testing with drones and existing technologies has shown that terrain like Ukraine’s makes accurate detection of small objects underground incredibly challenging. That’s why we’re doubling down on deep tech with the X-Ray Eagle, which delivers a groundbreaking level of accuracy and depth perception for landmine detection. The visuals produced by our sensor are so clear, they’re almost like photographs, offering teams a completely new way to quickly and safely assess buried threats. We demonstrated this technology at the NATO Innovation Challenge, where it earned first place with outstanding results.”
Edvinas Skerza, Managing Partner at ScaleWolf and former Vice Minister of Defense of Lithuania, said: “Governments around the world are making landmine detection and clearance a priority, and for the Lithuanian Ministry of Defence, it’s currently the number one focus. So it’s not a surprise to see NATO award Broswarm with the first place in their innovation challenge. Their X-Ray Eagle sensor technology will offer an unmatched advantage positioning them well ahead in landmine detection. In addition, with this level of accuracy, Broswarm’s technology will not only be able to clear mines from secure areas, but also support troops on the ground to manoeuvre faster and more safely through landmine-infested front line areas.”
With the new funding, Broswarm plans to speed up research and development, refine the X-Ray Eagle technology, and prepare a prototype for large-scale use. They also aim to conduct more field tests over the next year.
