Brighteye Ventures Raises €62.4 Mn for Third Fund to Back Next-Generation EdTech Startup

Brighteye Ventures, a Luxembourg-based venture capital firm, has announced the first close of its third fund at €62.4 million ($72 million). The firm invests in European companies working to change how people learn and work.

The new fund has attracted several new investors, including the Lumina Foundation, Italian publishing company Zanichelli, and PI Impact.
These investors join Brighteye Ventures’ existing backers, including the European Investment Fund (EIF), Jacobs Foundation, and several European family offices.
“The defining opportunity of the AI era is not replacing humans with machines. It is expanding what humans can do with machines. Autonomous intelligence multiplies the potential value of human skills, judgement, and talent,” said Ben Wirz, Founding Partner at Brighteye.

“Our conviction is that the next generation of category-defining companies will use technology to redefine human capability. We call this the HumanOS and we’re partnering early with the founders building in this space,” added Wirz.
Brighteye Ventures was founded by Wirz and Alex Spiro Latsis in 2017. The firm focuses on early-stage EdTech companies in Europe and North America. Since then, it has invested in more than 50 companies, which have together raised over €866 million ($1 billion) in follow-on funding. Some of these companies now generate more than €86.6 million ($100 million) in annual revenue.
Brighteye Ventures usually invests between €400,000 and €4 million in startups from the pre-Seed stage to Series A. The firm often leads or co-leads funding rounds, keeps money for future investments, and takes an active role through board positions.
The firm looks for European startups with global growth plans and the potential to generate more than €100 million in annual revenue. Brighteye operates from offices in London and Paris. Its portfolio includes Zen Educate, Ornikar, Hack The Box, Shakers, and Installer.
