Astrape Networks Funding News- Dutch Deeptech Astrape Networks raises €7.9M Funding

The Dutch company works on improving the speed and performance of short-distance data networks. The funding includes a €2.5 million grant from the European Innovation Council (EIC).

The funding round was led by PhotonVentures, Join Capital, and the Brabant Development Agency (BOM).

Shift Invest, a Dutch venture capital firm focused on positive impact, also took part in the investment.

Ewit Roos, General Partner at PhotonVentures, says, “Astrape is solving one of the most urgent bottlenecks in the AI revolution: the data traffic jams crippling modern data centers. Their solution not only boosts performance but also slashes energy consumption — significantly reducing the carbon footprint of AI infrastructure at scale.”

Astrape Networks was founded in 2022 as a spin-off from Eindhoven University of Technology and supported by the HighTechXL startup program.

The company is working to improve data center networks by combining optical and electronic switching technologies.

Astrape’s technology helps data centers handle 50% more traffic using fewer servers, boosts network efficiency, supports over 16 million GPUs or xPUs, and cuts energy use by 60%.

Their solutions are designed for the fast-growing data center industry, which is expected to be worth $624 billion by 2029, driven by cloud computing, AI, and real-time data needs.
