Anthropic Becomes World’s Most Valuable AI Startup With $965B Valuation

The latest valuation places Anthropic ahead of OpenAI, intensifying competition in the rapidly evolving AI sector.

The round was led by investors including Altimeter Capital, Dragoneer, Greenoaks and Sequoia Capital. Anthropic’s valuation has more than doubled since February reflecting growing investor confidence and strong demand for advanced AI technologies.

Founded as a challenger in the AI market Anthropic has rapidly grown into one of the industry’s leading players, driven by enterprise adoption and the success of its AI coding and productivity tools.

The company has also positioned itself as a more safety-focused AI developer, advocating for stronger oversight and responsible deployment of artificial intelligence.

Anthropic plans to use the new funding to expand computing infrastructure, scale its AI products and meet rising demand for Claude. The company is also reportedly preparing for a future public listing as competition among major AI firms continues to accelerate.

The funding highlights the enormous level of investment still flowing into the AI industry as companies race to secure the infrastructure and resources required to train next-generation AI models.

“Claude is increasingly indispensable to our growing global community of customers, and we work tirelessly to make tools like Claude Code and Cowork more helpful, more powerful, and more adaptable to their needs,” Krishna Rao, chief financial officer of Anthropic, said in a blogpost.
