Wooptix funding news - Madrid-based Wooptix Secures Over €10 Million in a Series C Round Funding

Wooptix, a company based in Madrid that specializes in semiconductor measurement technology has raised over €10 million in a Series C funding round. The funds will help speed up the development of its main product, Phemet® a semiconductor measurement tool.

SUMMARY

  • Wooptix, a company based in Madrid that specializes in semiconductor measurement technology has raised over €10 million in a Series C funding round.
  • Wooptix is a leader in semiconductor measurement, using wavefront phase imaging, a technology based on research from astronomy.

The funding was led by Samsung Venture Investment Corporation and the Spanish Society for Technological Transformation (SETT), with support from existing investors like the European Innovation Council Fund, Intel Capital, MONDRAGON Corporation, and TEL Venture Capital.

José Manuel Rodriguez Ramos, CEO of Wooptix.“The investment allows us to push the boundaries in resolution quality within the semiconductor technology landscape,” “Continued support from our investors has allowed us to introduce our semiconductor metrology Fabtool to global markets and deliver innovative solutions to an international customer base.”

Wooptix explains that the growing demand for AI is putting a lot of pressure on the semiconductor industry to create smaller and more complex chips. Traditional tools often can't provide the precision, automation, and speed needed for modern production.

To solve this, Wooptix has developed tools that can quickly and accurately detect tiny defects, setting a new standard for speed and precision in the manufacturing process.

Samsung representative said, “Wooptix and its advanced semiconductor metrology technology are a testament to the innovation in the IT ecosystem,” “This investment reinforces our leadership in AI and enhanced connected experiences, which ultimately define the purpose of semiconductors.”

Wooptix continues to innovate with the launch of its main product, Phemet®, a semiconductor measurement tool. Phemet® provides high resolution and near real-time processing, which helps reduce production times and improve supply chain efficiency.

Ramos said, “The Phemet capability of collecting over 16 million data points with sub-nanometer height resolution enables semiconductor manufacturers to reduce energy waste during production, Already adopted by major semiconductor manufacturers, Phemet® is on track for full automation and factory floor deployment for in-line testing in the coming months.”

Oscar López, the Minister of Digital Transformation, has called Wooptix a "success story." He highlighted the company’s growth in research investment and knowledge transfer from universities to businesses, as well as the government's focus on supporting future economic sectors.

With offices in Europe, the U.S., and Asia, and its headquarters in Spain, Wooptix is set for global expansion. The new funding will help speed up product development, increase their international presence, and grow their team to meet rising demand in the industry.
