SUMMARY
- Wingcopter, a German drone technology company, has secured new funding from the Nordic Secondary Fund, with continued backing from existing investors and the European Investment Bank (EIB).
This funding follows Wingcopter’s progress in obtaining type certification for its delivery drones in the US, Brazil, and Japan. The company is also growing its services to include drone-based infrastructure surveys using LiDAR technology.
Peter Sandberg, Founding Partner and MD at Nordic Secondary Fund, says, “We are excited to partner with Wingcopter as we share the team’s vision to drive meaningful change.”
“By enabling sustainable instant deliveries and the efficient inspection of critical infrastructure through aerial laser scanning, Wingcopter addresses two rapidly growing markets with the same multi-purpose platform.”
“Developing high-tech drone technology in Europe to tackle critical challenges for global customers not only demonstrates technical excellence but also makes an important contribution to a stronger and more sustainable European future.”
Wingcopter is a German drone technology company founded in 2017 by Tom Plümmer, Jonathan Hesselbarth, and Ansgar Kadura. The company designs, builds, and operates electric uncrewed aircraft systems (UAS) for logistics and aerial data collection.

With a team of 150, Wingcopter has grown into a leading European tech company focused on creating certifiable drone solutions for global, scalable use. Its flagship product, the Wingcopter 198, features a patented tilt-rotor system and custom software, allowing for vertical takeoff and landing like a multicopter, and the range and speed of a fixed-wing aircraft—even in tough weather.
The company recently strengthened its leadership team with the addition of Dr. Bernhard Klumpp as Co-CEO and Chief Product Officer. He brings experience from Continental in the automotive sector. Tobias Jordan joined as Chief Financial Officer, bringing expertise from Credit Suisse and electric mobility startup Dance. Dr. Klumpp joins Tom Plümmer (Co-CEO) and Jonathan Hesselbarth (CTO) as Managing Directors.
Wingcopter is backed by investors such as Corecam Capital Partners, DRONE FUND, the European Investment Bank, ITOCHU, and REWE Group.
Tom Plümmer, co-founder and co-CEO at Wingcopter, says, “Europe needs technology champions more than ever. With the new financing and strengthening of our leadership team, we look to the future with confidence, firmly believing that we have the potential to become such a champion and bring this potential to full fruition together.”
“Both Bernhard and Tobias have invaluable knowledge and experience in scaling companies – Bernhard in the industrial environment, Tobias on the financial side. Having laid a solid foundation over the past few years, we will now literally rise to new heights from this launchpad.”
