SUMMARY

  • Fluence Technology, founded by four Polish physicists, has secured €6.6M (PLN 28.1M) in seed funding to drive global expansion of its advanced laser systems.

The round saw PLN 19M from Vinci S.A., PLN 3M from Radix Ventures, and backing from JR Holding, Altamira, Vigo Ventures, Bitspiration Booster, and private investor Zbigniew Łukasiak.

The company develops cutting-edge fibre-based femtosecond lasers, trusted by top electronics manufacturers in Asia and the U.S. Renowned for unmatched precision and reliability in micro-machining these lasers offer a near-zero failure rate and maintenance-free performance once confined to research labs.

“Our goal is for our lasers to be not only competitive and utilise innovative technologies, but also to set new industry standards. Our strong scientific experience certainly helps us achieve this. We are the only producer of this kind in Poland,” says Dr. Michał Nejbauer, CEO of Fluence Technology. He adds, “The Polish market is not sufficiently developed to effectively commercialise such advanced solutions. Therefore, international expansion is crucial. The secured funding will allow us to scale our business and broaden application areas.”

Femtosecond lasers are becoming vital in advanced semiconductor manufacturing, powering microvias in integrated circuits and precision micromachining of materials like silicon, gallium nitride, and silicon carbide—key for AI and automotive chips.

They also enable glass interposers, supporting multi-component integration with benefits such as lower costs, thermal stability, and faster signal transmission. Major players like Intel and Samsung are already investing in glass substrate production.

Fluence’s new funding will accelerate its technology expansion and push into novel applications. “Fluence proves how strong scientific expertise can drive globally competitive innovation from Poland,” said Bartosz Drabikowski, CEO of Vinci S.A. “Its next-gen lasers already serve cutting-edge industries, while opportunities in security, dual-use, space, and defense are rapidly growing—perfectly aligning with our portfolio strategy.”

The company’s lasers are compact, durable, reliable and nearly maintenance-free, making them well-suited for demanding industries. The round also saw participation from Radix Ventures backed by the European Investment Fund.

“I have had the opportunity to follow the Fluence team’s development almost from the very beginning; thus, I am especially pleased that Radix Ventures can join as an investor in this company,” says Paweł Bochniarz, General Partner at Radix Ventures. “The founders’ persistence and determination, combined with the ability to deliver advanced technological products to demanding clients in Asia, North America, and Europe, create a solid foundation for Fluence’s future growth, especially as new femtosecond laser applications continuously emerge.”

Fluence’s lasers are used in producing photonic components, micro-LED displays, consumer electronics and medical devices. Major markets include East Asia and the U.S., particularly hubs for smartphones, smartwatches, and advanced displays. Research institutes and tech startups are also adopting the technology for new applications.

“The investment in Fluence Technology aligns with BGK’s strategy, which is based on stimulating the development of an innovative economy and supporting the international expansion of Polish companies. Through the Vinci fund, we can support the company in further developing its technology and business applications, as well as competing in global markets with highly advanced industrial technologies. This allows us to promote the achievements of Polish scientists”, emphasises Jarosław Dąbrowski, a member of the Management Board of Bank Gospodarstwa Krajowego responsible for the development of Vinci SA funds.
