Vsim funding news - UK-based Vsim Secures $21.5Million in Seed Funding

Simulation startup Vsim secures $21.5million in seed funding led by EQT Ventures with participation from Factorial Fund, Samsung Next, Tru Arrow, Xora (a fully owned subsidiary of Temasek), IQ Capital, Koro Capital, Concept Ventures, Lakestar Scout Fund, Carles Reina. This follows a pre-seed fundraise led by Concept ventures in 2023.

SUMMARY

  • Simulation startup Vsim secures $21.5million in seed funding.
  • Vsim is a research and deployment business for multiphysics simulation.

Vsim, which was co-founded in 2022 and is run by CEO Michelle Lu and CTO Kier Storey, gains from the 20 years of combined physics simulation experience of its founders, who spent more than ten years each working on Nvidia's simulation technology team and creating open-source physics engines.

Vsim's solution accelerates physics simulations for businesses in a variety of industries, such as robotics, Visual FX, aerodynamics for cars and aircraft, gaming, and e-commerce. It does this by utilizing novel algorithms that take use of multi-core hardware architectures.

The technique aims to address two primary issues that currently have market-available remedies. First, the speed at which businesses may finish training sessions using simulations; using Vsim, simulations can be finished in minutes as opposed to days without sacrificing quality. Secondly, the challenge of adapting and modifying frameworks to meet the requirements of using the technology in a range of use cases.

With research conducted by its two co-founders, Vsim has created an adaptable framework that provides customers with a high-performance, highly accurate physics simulator. This framework allows for quick customization and the creation of new models to support specialized use cases. Because of this, users from a variety of industries can quickly and simply create high-performance custom simulations that satisfy their unique needs with little technical work.

On top of its physics simulator, Vsim has constructed an end-to-end reinforcement training framework, expanding its technological stack beyond simulation. This offers a training performance speed-up of up to 100 times faster than the current market-available alternatives. With the help of this large investment, Vsim is expanding its capabilities and creating full-stack software solutions specifically for the robotics industry.

Michelle Lu, Co-Founder and Chief Executive Officer at Vsim, commented:“We are thrilled to announce our seed funding round led by EQT Ventures, which represents a significant milestone in our development. This will provide us with further resources and support to deliver on our mission to empower companies to accelerate and optimize their AI trainings and ultimately, transform the field of robotics simulation. EQT Ventures were an obvious choice of partner for us - they share the challenger mentality that is at Vsim’s core and our passion of supporting businesses to grow with cutting edge technology solutions.”

Sandra Malmberg, Partner at EQT Ventures, added: “Physics simulation is fundamental to many sectors, such as research, manufacturing, and robotics. With decades of expertise in physics simulation technology, Michelle and Kier have built a solution that offers 100x performance for the fraction of the cost, helping users achieve breakthroughs in their fields.”
