SUMMARY

  • Trent AI, an agentic security startup, has emerged from stealth with a new layered security solution designed for the AI agent era.

The company raised $13 million in Seed funding, led by LocalGlobe and Cambridge Innovation Capital, with participation from leaders at OpenAI, Spotify, Databricks, AWS, and others.

Trent AI’s platform is built to secure AI agents as they evolve, offering a multi-agent security approach focused on continuous, scalable, and seamless protection. The leadership team brings experience from companies such as Spotify, AWS, Alcion (acquired by Veeam), and Confluent.

The funding round also includes notable investors like Joaquin Quiñonero Candela (OpenAI), Avinash Bhat (AWS), Ippokratis Pandis (Databricks), and Tony Jebara (former Spotify VP Engineering and Head of AI/ML).

Founded in 2025, Trent AI is building a new approach to securing agentic AI using context-driven security. Its platform uses a proprietary judgement layer and reinforcement learning to power specialised security agents that continuously monitor and protect AI systems throughout their lifecycle.

The company was founded by Eno Thereska, Neil Lawrence, and Zhenwen Dai, who bring experience from AWS, Spotify, Alcion, and academia. Their goal is to make security a seamless and ongoing part of AI development.

As adoption of agentic AI grows with 74% of companies planning to deploy it in the next two years many organisations still lack proper governance. This creates risks, especially in systems where multiple AI agents interact.

Trent AI addresses this with a unified, layered solution that improves over time through feedback loops, making threat detection and response more accurate.

Early users, including Canopy, Commscentre, ML@Cam, Qbeast, and Weblogic, report improved visibility, faster vulnerability detection, and clear remediation insights.

“Organisations are deploying AI agents and autonomous workflows faster than their security can adapt, and most development teams using these agents and workflows have no security framework designed for their systems,” says Eno Thereska, co-founder and CEO of Trent AI.

“This is not an easy problem to solve. Trent AI is tackling these difficult and important problems, while building the necessary security foundations and frameworks for agentic systems now and through the next decade.”

“The rise of agents goes hand in hand with the rise of new security threats,” says Saul Klein, co-founder and Executive Chairman of Phoenix Court, the home of LocalGlobe. “Now is the right time to build the long-term foundations of security for agentic systems. Trent AI is uniquely positioned to do this, combining deep academic expertise with real-world experience building large-scale systems and working closely with design partners deploying agents today.”
