SUSE Acquires Losant To Enhance Industrial IoT With Open-Source Edge Automation Platform

SUSE, a Luxembourg-based provider of enterprise open source solutions, acquired Losant, a Cincinnati, Ohio-based provider of Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) platforms.

  • SUSE, a Luxembourg-based provider of enterprise open source solutions, acquired Losant, a Cincinnati, Ohio-based provider of Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) platforms.

With the deal, SUSE will expand its Edge portfolio to provide a full-stack open process automation platform, enabling real-time intelligence from the cloud down to the “Tiny Edge” of industrial devices.

Led by CEO Charlie Key and CTO Brandon Cannaday, Losant provides a low-code IIoT platform that features a visual workflow engine and customizable dashboards to help enterprises convert complex device data into operational value. The Losant platform and its people will be part of the SUSE Edge portfolio and business unit.

Losant was named in the 2025 Gartner® Magic Quadrant™ for Global Industrial IoT Platforms. The Losant platform and team will join the SUSE Edge portfolio and business unit. SUSE plans to open-source Losant technology, collaborating with aligned communities to enhance interface standardization, interoperability, and process automation worldwide.

Led by CEO Dirk-Peter van Leeuwen and General Manager of SUSE Edge Keith Basil, SUSE advances enterprise-grade open source software offering secure Linux, Kubernetes and Edge solutions designed to reduce vendor lock-in and modernize IT infrastructure.

SUSE plans to open source the Losant technology and work with aligned open source communities assessing where Losant technology can accelerate interface standardization, interoperability, and process automation capabilities globally.
