Sort A Brick's co-founder and managing director, Aurimas Slapšys, stated: "We help by cleaning and sorting customers’ brick collections, then using our proprietary software to suggest new models to build. Millions of LEGO bricks sit unused in boxes because neither kids nor parents want to sift through them. Compared to purchasing brand-new sets from the shop, this gives kids a whole new building experience for less money.
Promoting the reuse of products and prolonging their lifespan is a developing trend and expanding business model that is expected to account for 15% of the market for physical consumer goods and generate €265 billion in sales by 2030. Rental programs for products like athletic gear and upscale goods are offered by circular businesses, which cut down on pointless purchases.
They also include online marketplaces like Vinted, which is Lithuania's first unicorn marketplace and a platform for clothing resale, and Tingit, which is a zero-effort marketplace that allows users to fix clothing, extending the life of things. These recycling ideas encourage sustainable consumer practices and lessen their negative effects on the environment.
On his decision to invest in Sort A Brick, Mantas Mikuckas, Co-Founder of Vinted, added: “Circular businesses have huge potential because they address real problems while also cutting CO2 emissions. Sort A Brick is a great example, letting kids enjoy their toys more while saving parents money and reducing their environmental footprint. It has also developed a truly unique approach, as the only company that actually sorts LEGO bricks for you.”
With the current funding, the firm is expanding its operations by investing in sophisticated computer vision, software development, prototype machinery, and market testing.
