SUMMARY
- Kevin Costa, founding partner of Belief Capital, has reached a final close on a $20m solo GP fund. The fund is among a growing number of European solo GP vehicles to close this year.
Belief Capital will invest at the pre-seed and seed stages across Europe and the US, targeting technical founders working in AI, robotics, and infrastructure.
“If you look at many of the most interesting venture outcomes of the past few years, companies like Cursor, Mercor or Midjourney, they’re all built by young, deeply technical founders, often between 18 and 30, running extremely small high-leverage teams,” says Costa.
“These founders are AI-native, less constrained by legacy thinking and willing to pursue non-consensus ideas. As tech becomes a larger % of global GDP, we believe this is just a glimpse of how the future will be built.”

The fund’s portfolio already includes Ark Robotics, a Tallinn-based company building infrastructure to connect robot fleets, and Popcorn, a New York startup working on a next-generation telco platform.

Backers include GPs from Hummingbird, Point Nine, and Adjacent, as well as founders such as Wise’s Taavet Hinrikus and Pitch’s Christian Reber, plus San Francisco-based fund-of-funds GREE.
With Belief, we want to be a highly focused, founder-aligned partner from the very beginning through the life of a company. We invest a meaningful amount early on, committing around 5–10% of the fund to each company at the pre-seed and seed stages.
As venture capital becomes more institutional, many funds now treat pre-seed and seed investments as optional bets for a future Series A. They often invest very small amounts around 0.1% of the fund per company effectively treating these startups like lottery tickets.
“A lot of our best dealflow comes from the internet, particularly platforms like X, where young technical founders share ideas early,” says Costa.
Costa, who has been angel investing since he was 19, says many of his deals come through referrals from founders he has previously backed. He also spends time building relationships near universities, including Oxford and Imperial in the UK, and Vanderbilt and Georgia Tech in the US.
Belief was one of 20 emerging funds chosen for Mountside Ventures’ first VC accelerator programme earlier this year. Before launching Belief, Costa was an investor at Berlin-based early-stage fund La Famiglia, which merged with General Catalyst in 2023, and served as head of operations at pet tech startup PetsApp.
