Safehire.ai Raises £500K to Expand Digital Risk Screening Platform

Safehire.ai, a London-based digital risk intelligence company, has secured €583,200 (£500,000) in follow-on funding from a private investor.

SUMMARY

  • Safehire.ai has secured €583,200 (£500,000) in follow-on funding from a private investor.
  • The new investment brings the company’s total funding to €1.8 million (£1.55 million).
  • Safehire.ai was founded in 2024 by Simon Holden and Sean Lumley.

The new investment comes after the company raised €1.22 million (£1.05 million) in a Seed funding round in April 2025. With this latest investment, Safehire.ai has now raised a total of €1.8 million (£1.55 million).

Safehire.ai helps organisations make safer and better hiring and access decisions. Its technology provides digital risk intelligence to help businesses identify potential risks before giving people access to jobs, workplaces, or other services.

“Safehire challenges the idea that traditional checks are enough. By looking beyond the surface, we help organisations identify hidden risk, strengthen safeguarding and make high-trust decisions with greater confidence. This investment allows us to scale Digital Risk Screening beyond education, support larger enterprise use cases, develop our insider risk capability and prepare for expansion into other jurisdictions,” said Simon Holden, co-founder and CEO of Safehire.ai.

“These checks could include DBS (or equivalent) and BPSS, credit checks, and employment references and history. At a time when the digital risk surface around people has become far more complex, fragmented and difficult to assess, searches are often conducted by untrained HR personnel, while those conducted in a traditional manner by professional vetting staff might cost £1,500 per search,” Safehire.ai mentioned in a press release.

Safehire.ai was founded in 2024 by former British Army officers Simon Holden and Sean Lumley. Holden previously worked as a school bursar and founded a cybersecurity company, while Lumley is a technology entrepreneur and co-founder of CybSafe.

Safehire.ai provides digital risk screening to help organisations make safer decisions when hiring employees, protecting people, and managing their workforce.

The platform looks for digital risk information across the surface, deep, and dark web. The information is then checked by human analysts before the findings are shared with organisations.
