SUMMARY
- Robinhood is launching a new investor tool that uses breaking news, analyst reports, and proprietary platform data to explain why a stock is moving.
This is the first UK product powered by Robinhood Cortex, the company’s investment assistant, which debuted in the US earlier this year. The tool produces summaries, or “digests,” providing clear insights into market movements.
This launch continues Robinhood’s trend of bringing popular US products to the UK, following its reputation for pioneering commission-free trading. The move also reflects a broader trend among financial startups to expand their AI offerings—either by leveraging large language models like ChatGPT or building tools using proprietary datasets, as Robinhood has done.

According to Robinhood, the tool uses AI to analyze a wide range of data, including news reports, research reports, real-time market data, analyst ratings, technical indicators and aggregated trading activity from Robinhood customers. By combining these sources the platform aims to provide UK investors with actionable insights into market movements in an easy-to-digest format.
This step underscores the growing role of AI in fintech, helping investors quickly interpret complex information while enhancing the capabilities of digital trading platforms.
According to Robinhood: “Digest delivers AI-powered summaries decoding what’s driving stock price movements - helping investors to make informed decisions with clarity and confidence.”
Robinhood says the summaries are intended to serve as an additional research tool for traders to consult before executing a trade.
Jordan Sinclair, president at Robinhood UK. “We believe our UK customers —from first-time investors to seasoned traders—will appreciate the timely, accessible summaries that highlight what’s moving a stock, circumventing the need to manually gather information from multiple sources.”
Sinclair explained that the summaries help traders understand why a stock’s price is moving, especially if they’ve only heard about it but lack context. He added that using the summaries is faster than relying on other research methods.
He said: “If they went to ChatGPT it would probably take them six different prompts to eventually get there. They still probably wouldn’t be quite sure what it meant for them.”
Asked if Robinhood was late to the party with Cortex Digests, Sinclair said: “I don’t see us being late, I would rather deliver a great product for customers.”
Robinhood noted that Cortex Digests, which will be free for UK users, were first rolled out in the US and have already been used by hundreds of thousands of its customers.
