Lausanne-based Reshape Systems SA, a spin-off from CERN, has raised €856K in a pre-seed round to tackle big challenges in risk analysis.

SUMMARY

  • Lausanne-based Reshape Systems SA, a spin-off from CERN, has raised €856K in a pre-seed round to tackle big challenges in risk analysis.

The round was oversubscribed and led by Backbone Ventures, with support from Heartfelt, GF BRYCK Ventures, Kyle Kosic (xAI co-founder, now at OpenAI), and N&V Capital.

“This investment represents a pivotal point in Reshape Systems’ growth, allowing us to expand our team and scale up the development and adoption of our risk analysis platform,” said Dr Andrea Apollonio, Co-founder and CEO of Reshape Systems, who holds a PhD specialising in risk analysis methods for particle accelerators and has held various leadership roles at CERN over the last decade.

Founded in 2024 as a CERN spin-off, Reshape Systems develops advanced AI solutions for risk analysis in complex industrial systems, blending deep research expertise with industry knowledge to deliver transparent and explainable AI for critical sectors.

Users upload project documents like technical specs or drawings. In return, they get access to a risk-analysis co-pilot — a platform that supports project management from concept to operations.

It automates risk analysis, follows safety standards, integrates with existing tools, updates instantly with changes, and generates standardised reports.

“In high-stakes industrial environments – such as automotive, aerospace, nuclear, and manufacturing – trust and transparency are essential. We are committed to providing explainable, user-supervised AI solutions that give decision-makers the confidence to safely innovate, reduce risk, and ensure operational continuity,” said Dr Thomas Cartier-Michaud (Co-founder and CTO), a PhD in plasma physics and AI expert who brings R&D experience from both major research institutions and the HealthTech startup sector.

Companies today face tighter deadlines, complex product demands, supply chain issues, and staff turnover — all of which make risk analysis and certification harder.

Reshape Systems, born from CERN research, uses cutting-edge AI to tackle these challenges. Their platform helps cut engineering costs, manage knowledge better, and speed up product launches without compromising safety or reliability.
