SUMMARY
- Paris-based startup Skynopy, founded in late 2023, has raised €15 million in funding just 18 months after its launch.
The company provides high-speed, plug-and-play ground station services for low Earth orbit (LEO) satellites, especially those used for Earth observation. Skynopy’s solution is designed to be rapidly deployable and doesn’t require heavy upfront investment.
In under a year, the startup has added over 15 antennas to its network through a mix of its own deployments, third-party integrations, and partnerships with companies like AWS and Kinéis. Using a hybrid model that combines existing shared infrastructure with proprietary technology, along with smart software and virtual modems, Skynopy reduces satellite revisit times to under 20 minutes and doubles the data downloaded during each pass.

This flexible setup helps large satellite operators download more data at no extra cost and allows smaller operators to cut their costs in half. A recent successful test with Airbus proved the system's efficiency, enabling data downloads from Pléiades Neo satellites with a setup time of less than two weeks.
Pierre Bertrand, co-founder and CEO of Skynopy, shared: This fundraising marks a turning point. In less than 18 months, we have demonstrated that an agile, interoperable, and CAPEX-free model can compete with industry giants. Thanks to our investors' confidence, we will now deploy a large-scale network capable of meeting the growing needs of satellite operators, ensuring both performance and ease of use.
The funding round was led by Alven, with support from Expansion, Omnes, and CNES through the SpaceFounders program. Existing investor Heartcore, a pan-European fund, also took part in the round.
François Meteyer, Partner at Alven, said: By integrating the best existing infrastructure and focusing on practical, user-oriented value, Skynopy has built—in just a few short months—a service that is already being adopted by strategic clients. We were particularly impressed by the team’s deep technical expertise, sharp commercial understanding of the market, and above all, their remarkable speed of execution. We are confident they have what it takes to become the next global leader in the satellite ground segment.
This funding will help Skynopy speed up its commercial rollout, expand its technical and marketing teams, and gather the resources needed to launch its AKAR project—a unified, high-speed, real-time space network set to go live in 2028.
