SUMMARY

  • Paris-based Parallel, a startup creating AI agents for hospitals, has raised $20 million in a Series A round led by Index Ventures, with participation from Frst, Y Combinator, Hexa, and angel investors.

This follows a $3.5 million seed round less than a year ago, with technology already deployed in multiple public and private hospitals.

Hospitals often rely on complex, manual administrative workflows across legacy systems, requiring staff to enter data, manage billing, coding, and admissions, which reduces time for patient care.

Parallel solves this with AI agents that work directly within existing hospital software. The platform acts as an AI layer that mimics human interactions with the software, enabling fast deployment without replacing systems or deep integrations.

Parallel’s initial focus is medical coding, converting clinical data into standardized codes for reimbursement and reporting. By increasing accuracy and efficiency, the company helps hospitals capture appropriate revenue.

The startup plans to expand AI agents into other administrative tasks, including billing and admissions, improving efficiency in resource-constrained healthcare systems.

The new funding will support scaling coding solutions, international expansion, developing more AI agents, and growing the team.

Because our technology runs on top of legacy systems rather than requiring deep integration, our agents can automate a wide range of administrative tasks in healthcare. That means less time and resources spent on cumbersome, manual processes, said Paul Lafforgue, co-founder and CEO of Parallel.

About Parallel

Launched in 2025 by Paul Lafforgue and Chris Rydahl, Parallel develops AI agents that automate hospital administrative tasks. Using Large Language Models and Computer Use Agents, the platform leverages medical data to streamline operations, boost efficiency, and enhance the quality of patient care.
