SUMMARY
- Overcast HQ, a software company based in Dublin, has raised $1.2 million funding.
- Leading media asset management platform Overcast HQ is used by major international brands to handle media content at scale using artificial intelligence.
The business is all on full-stack video management. CEO Philippe Brodeur, who has firsthand knowledge of the necessity for video content management, launched the company.
I asked Brodeur for more information. He used to make video news for the BBC, where a producer, reporter, camera operator, sound technician, and lighting specialist would typically send five people to acquire a 30-second clip from a politician.

The company just revealed that its new generative AI capabilities are now live. "We've been working with AI for seven years," Brodeur clarified. How can we use Gen AI to manage content instead of creating it? was our question.
Customers may find content using conversational search functionality (the AI "reads" the video like it would a text file), automate metadata tagging, and accelerate time to market.
He explained: “The more content that's created, the more content needs to be managed. Compliance is becoming a massive issue. Your content has to be compliant with your brand. It has to be compliant with the fonts you use and the local countries into which you're pushing the content. But you can’t just push a ton of content in and not know where it's come from and where it's going. You still have to manage it. You have to manage it and understand how it performs.”
Businesses may set themselves apart from the competition with the help of Overcast HQ. It collaborates with companies such as Vodafone, Yeti, Royal Opera House, and Diageo.
A number of prominent angel investors are involved in the round, including David Shackleton, who sold Openback to X (formerly Twitter), Professor Anil Kokaram, Chair of Electronic Engineering at Trinity College Dublin, Paddy Flynn, Google's VP of Maps, and George Kilpatrick, Chief Revenue Officer of Overcast HQ.
As of right now, the business is preparing for this summer's Series A investment round. The money will be utilised to support ongoing product development and team expansion as the business broadens its global clientele.
