- Nosh.bio, a B2B foodtech startup specialising in fermented fungi-based ingredients, has announced a groundbreaking commercial partnership with the zur Mühlen Group (ZMG)
- Nosh.bio, a Berlin-based startup founded in 2022, has attracted additional funding from a number of sources, including ApolloCapital and Check24 Impact.
Through this partnership, the partners are able to introduce a new line of clean-label products called Koji Chunks. The Zur Mühlen Group, a division of the Tönnies Group, a prominent player in the European meat manufacturing industry, plans to launch Koji Chunks in Germany by utilizing its vast store network.
The non-GMO, non-novel fungi used to create Nosh.bio's Koji Chunks will come in five different flavors. Founded in February 2022, Nosh.bio GmbH is a startup located in Berlin.
This recipe, which has just one ingredient—the fermented fungus component from Nosh—and a marinade, was developed in response to customer desire for greater transparency and simpler, shorter ingredient lists on food labels.
Even though it was just founded two years ago, its ability to quickly address long-standing issues in the meat analog industry has attracted new investors, such as ApolloCapital and Check24 Impact. ZMG, which shown a strong commercial conviction over Nosh's value proposition, also took part in the round.
In the round were previous investors Earlybird, Clear Current Capital, Good Seed Ventures, and Grey Silo Ventures. Nosh has the resources to quickly accelerate the mass market acceptance of meat analogs thanks to the acquisition of new funding and a business partnership with a significant player in the meat industry. This collaboration also emphasizes how adaptable and sustainable fermented fungi are as a cutting-edge culinary ingredient.
Nosh CEO and Co-founder Tim Fronzek said: “As a small start-up we will not be able to change the world alone, we need strong and successful partners who are sharing our mission, helping us make sustainable food delicious and affordable. Tönnies is exactly such a partner and we are extremely excited and proud to welcome them to the team Nosh!”
Axel Knau, CEO of zur Mühlen Group, commented: “The investment fits perfectly into our alternative protein strategy. With a very short ingredient list, it offers both taste and nutritional value at an affordable price.”
