SUMMARY

  • London-based healthcare startup Nila, supporting expatriates in caring for elderly relatives abroad, has raised $2.4M (£1.8M) pre-seed funding to expand its services and platform.

The funding round was led by LocalGlobe, with participation from Redbus Ventures and angel investors from remittance, fintech, and healthtech sectors, including Nala, Revolut, and Wise.

Nila plans to use the capital to scale its platform, expand services across India over the next 12–18 months, and enter other Asian markets, such as the Philippines.

Led by Anthony Jacob, Nila offers a care management platform that eases the challenges of supporting elderly relatives across borders.

Initially focusing on India, Nila currently provides services in over 10 cities, including Mumbai, Pune, Delhi, Hyderabad, Bangalore, Chennai, Coimbatore, Ahmedabad, Ludhiana, and Kolkata.

Nila has created an in-house certification program to recruit, vet, and train local caregivers in geriatric care and safeguarding. “Nila Certified” carers manage each client’s care end-to-end using the platform to coordinate home visits, track medications, arrange medical transport, and simplify healthcare payments for expatriates.

The company originated from Founders Factory’s Aviva fintech venture studio.

Jacob said, “We face an ageing population of a huge proportion. The knock-on effect is increased elder dependency on younger generations, often young professionals exploring careers abroad who have to handle care arrangements remotely.

At Nila, we are the bridge to that cross-border high-quality care that is smarter, more efficient and keeps families far away informed of every step. Today’s fundraiser is an exciting opportunity to take the next step in Nila’s growth – delivering personalised senior care at scale.”
