Until date, significant technological limitations have limited the promise of conversational AI - text-to-speech models are too big, sluggish, costly, and unnatural-sounding. Neuphonic is transforming this by creating the quickest text-to-speech system in the world with its patent-pending technology, which allows for real-time, incremental voice production with an ultra-low latency of only 25 milliseconds. It can also operate with any Large Language Model in a more human-like and language-agnostic manner thanks to its progressive process. Through an exclusive limited beta program, clients that wish to include human-like voice into their products can use Neuphonic's API.
"High latency in Voice AI prevents natural interaction and slows growth in key fields like gaming, conversational AI, digital avatars, and real-time translation,” said Sohaib Ahmad, Co-founder and CEO of Neuphonic.

After meeting at Cambridge University while researching machine learning, former Papercup co-founder Jiameng Gao and former hedge fund quant trader Sohaib Ahmad launched Neuphonic. Together with their love of voice technology, Sohaib and Jiameng, who are multilingual first-generation immigrants with ancestry in China, Ireland, and Pakistan, created Neuphonic to address the shortcomings of current text-to-speech systems. They have a unique perspective on linguistic barriers and cultural quirks.
"By generating speech word-by-word as text arrives, we unlock a wide range of use cases for Text-To-Speech that wasn’t possible before – we’re in talks with businesses in customer service, digital reception, humanoid robotics, ed-tech, storytelling, and content creation. This goes beyond speed improvements and allows us to create AI interactions that feel as natural and responsive as human conversation,” added Jiameng Gao, Co-founder and CTO of Neuphonic.
"Voice AI has been a sleeping giant, held back by technical limitations that Neuphonic is now solving. Their technology has the potential to unlock significant value across multiple industries,” commented Akshat Goenka, Partner at Moonfire.
"Neuphonic’s breakthrough in real-time speech synthesis will create a paradigm shift in human-machine interaction,” said Professor Steve Young CBE, Emeritus Professor of Information Engineering and former Senior Pro-Vice Chancellor of Cambridge University.
The money will be used by Neuphonic, which has its headquarters in King's Cross, London, to improve model performance through increased research, create on-device solutions, and broaden its language and voice services. In a voice AI industry expected to reach USD 41.39 billion by 2030, the company is well-positioned for quick expansion with a growing workforce and a waiting list of hundreds of potential customers and enterprises.
