Though they might not immediately spring to mind when discussing fashion, textile patterns are essential to the creation of a wearable.

Fashion houses have customarily dependent on fabric suppliers to provide designs, usually in the form of prototypes and swatches. This already manufactured textile is, well, one of the 92 million tonnes of garbage produced annually, if—or rather, when—a design is rejected or changes are required.

Myth AI’s founder and CEO Özgecan Üstgül says the origins of the company began while creating an in-house solution to support her established fashion line Women & Women. Myth seeks to speed up the pattern-making process by using generative AI, which will ultimately contribute to the development of a more sustainable design and production process.

Üstgül shared: “Our technology currently allows brands to create distinctive patterns within minutes, setting them apart in an industry often reliant on fabric suppliers. By drastically streamlining the process, we're not only enhancing efficiency but also addressing fashion’s sustainability issues by significantly reducing fabric swatches and prototypes.”

Myth AI is funded by Birkan Kül of Getir.com, Emre Kozlu of Philip Morris International, and the founder of the Turkish textile company Faik Ulutas. With the $1.3 million Seed investment, the company intends to break into the UK market and explore additional possibilities, though Üstgül declined to say where.
