Multiverse Computing Raises €500 Million at €1.5 Billion Valuation to Expand Efficient AI Platform

Multiverse Computing, an AI startup based in San Sebastian, Spain, has raised €500 million ($570 million) in a Series C funding round. The investment values the company at €1.5 billion ($1.7 billion) before the new funding, which is five times higher than its valuation during the previous Series B round.

SUMMARY

  • Multiverse Computing, a Spain-based AI startup, has raised €500 million ($570 million) in a Series C funding round.
  • The round was co-led by Forgepoint Capital International, BNPP SIVF, and Bullhound Capital, with support from several global investors.
  • Founded in 2019, Multiverse Computing develops secure, enterprise-ready AI that reduces computing costs while giving businesses full control over their data.

The funding round was co-led by Forgepoint Capital International, BNPP SIVF, and Bullhound Capital. It marks one of the largest funding rounds for a European AI company focused on building sovereign and efficient AI technologies.

Several other investors also joined the round, including Santander Alternative Investments, Tikehau Capital, HP Inc., Orange Ventures, Scania Invest, National Bank of Canada's NAventures, Qatar Development Bank, Zouk Capital, SETT, EIC Fund, the Basque Government's Hazten Scale-Up Fund, and Kutxa Fundazioa. The new funding will help Multiverse Computing continue developing and expanding its AI technology.

“The AI industry has accepted a false constraint for years — that powerful models require expensive infrastructure. That constraint is gone. We have proven that AI can run at full performance on a smartphone, inside a sovereign data centre, on a factory floor with no cloud connection. This round is the moment we scale that proof across every industry that needs it,” said Enrique Lizaso, co-founder and CEO of Multiverse Computing.

Damien Henault, Managing Director and Partner at Forgepoint Capital International, said, “The AI industry has built an extraordinary capability on top of an infrastructure model that wasn’t designed to sustain it. The winners in the next phase of this multi-trillion-dollar market will be the ones that make every data centre, every GPU, and every enterprise deployment dramatically more efficient.

“Multiverse sits at the intersection of the infrastructure and the application layers and has evolved from being the leading downstream LLM compression technology to becoming a complete AI foundry and Operating System. It is the only company we’ve seen that has both the technical foundation and the commercial traction to be that critical platform.”

Founded in 2019 by Enrique Lizaso, Multiverse Computing helps businesses use secure, enterprise-ready AI while keeping full control of their data across cloud platforms, data centers, and edge devices. Its solutions are designed to reduce computing costs and make AI more efficient.

The company develops quantum-inspired AI technology that can significantly reduce the size of large language models (LLMs). This makes AI systems faster, more scalable, and more affordable, allowing businesses to run powerful AI applications on enterprise systems and edge devices.
