SUMMARY

  • Fast-growing French startup Mistral has launched a new AI assistant for businesses called Le Chat Enterprise.

Mistral develops large language models (LLMs), the same tech behind tools like ChatGPT. Although only two years old, Mistral is already seen as one of Europe’s top challengers to big companies like Microsoft and OpenAI.

Le Chat Enterprise connects with tools like Google Drive, SharePoint, OneDrive, Google Calendar, and Gmail to help employees easily find and link scattered information using simple language prompts.

It also includes templates to create AI agents that can automate everyday tasks like writing weekly summaries or analyzing data.

These features are similar to Microsoft’s Copilot, which is built into Microsoft 365 apps to help with tasks like writing in Word, making PowerPoint slides, taking meeting notes, and analyzing Excel data.

Mistral, which has raised over €1 billion, has focused on serving businesses from the start. The company says its open-source approach lets companies build custom tools and keep their data more secure. Le Chat Enterprise can run on a company’s own servers or in public or private cloud systems.

Mistral already works with major businesses like BNP Paribas and AXA. In 2024, it earned about €30 million in yearly recurring revenue.
