AI-powered learning platform Mindmax has raised £2.5 million in venture capital funding. The round was led by Concept Ventures, with participation from Redrice Ventures, Daybreak Ventures and Lerer Hippeau.
The funding round also received support from angel investors, including former Depop CEO Maria Raga and Helsing co-founder Torsten Reil.
"Curiosity has always been the greatest fuel for learning. Which means you need to be able to ask questions. When you’re in a one-to-one conversation with an expert, you’ll ask 20-30 questions per hour. You can’t do that in a classroom. It’s why our approach is so powerful, "said Daniel Zohar, co-founder of Mindmax.
Mindmax was founded by Ed Cooke and Daniel Zohar. The company is building AI-powered learning tools to help people learn new skills, remember information and prepare for professional exams.

Before starting Mindmax, both founders were part of the team behind Memrise, a language-learning platform used by more than 80 million people worldwide. Their experience at Memrise has helped shape Mindmax's approach to personalised learning with AI.
Mindmax's first product is an AI tutor designed to help people prepare for professional exams and improve their skills. It uses live conversations to make lessons more personal and interactive.
Users can ask questions, interrupt the tutor and focus on subjects they find difficult. The platform also provides visual explanations and illustrations. It adjusts lessons based on each person's knowledge, learning goals and preferred way of learning.
Mindmax is developing its technology at a time when more people are using AI for education and work. This has raised concerns about whether depending too much on AI could affect people's ability to think independently, solve problems and learn actively.
