Microsoft's proposal is made in spite of remarks made by its president Brad Smith in April indicating that the tech industry's trust in Britain was in jeopardy due to a ruling by the nation's antitrust commissioner that went against the American business.
Smith said "Microsoft is committed as a company to ensuring that the UK as a country has world-leading AI infrastructure in the statement released as he hosted finance minister Jeremy Hunt at a datacentre being constructed in north London".
