Proposals are invited for the EIC Accelerator Challenges in areas where innovative ideas or breakthrough technologies created by SMEs or start-ups can significantly influence EU goals. Melt&Marble is noteworthy for being one of the 14 female-led businesses that have been successful in this investment round and have access to top talent, corporations, investors, and ecosystem players.
It has obtained an additional €260K funding from the Horizon Europe Framework Programme (HORIZON), which is a component of the European Union's "Farm to Fork" strategy, in addition to the €2.5M EIC grant. Under the direction of RISE Processum, businesses and R&D institutions from all throughout Europe are involved in the "DELICIOUS" initiative.
It will concentrate on creating dairy fats to improve the organoleptic characteristics of dairy substitutes. The company's DairyMarbleTM program, which aims to supply excellent dairy fats for the upcoming generation of cheeses, butters, and baked goods, will be accelerated by this initiative.
Anastasia Krivoruchko, co-founder & CEO said, ‘’We’re thrilled to receive this funding and proud to be recognized for our efforts in driving the transition towards a more sustainable food system,’ The EU's commitment to supporting innovative food production technologies is truly encouraging. This funding will help bring us a step closer to offering delicious and healthy meat and dairy analogues, significantly improving both sustainability and food security,”.
It will be able to proceed to pre-commercial stages and further scale up its technique with the help of the EIC financing. Along with lowering production costs in advance of a commercial launch, the funding will help the company's initial product, MeatyMarbleTM, with its application development.
MeatyMarbleTM, the first product of Melt&Marble, is a solid fat that resembles meat and is made to mimic the qualities of fats obtained from animals. This makes the fat substitute more palatable and environmentally friendly. Melt&Marble is investigating MeatyMarbleTM's possibilities in other industries, such as personal care, where changing consumer preferences are driving a growing demand for sustainable speciality fats.
Chief Business Officer, Thomas Cresswell commented: ‘’These grants mark a significant milestone for Melt&Marble, enabling us to decrease production costs, scale our innovative technology and bring sustainable fats to market. We are excited about the opportunities this creates for us to progress on our mission to enable the transition to a more sustainable agri-food system.’’
