SUMMARY

  • Milan-based mobility startup Wayla, Italy’s first urban van pooling service, exceeded its €1 million crowdfunding target on Mamacrowd in under 30 hours after launching its campaign.

Investors include Carrani Tours, a travel company with over 100 years of experience, adding credibility to Wayla’s growth. The new funding will drive fleet expansion, advance technology development, and strengthen its B2B services for businesses and event organizers.

“This is just the beginning of an ambitious journey,” says Carlo Bettini, CEO & Co-Founder of Wayla. “It means that hundreds of people believe in our mission and have decided to come on board to transform the way we move around cities together.”

Founded in 2024, Wayla launched in Milan and expanded to Monza and Brianza by June 2025. Its shared van service addresses evening and night-time transport gaps, aiming to cut costs and reduce emissions.

The founding team combines expertise in engineering, law, mobility, technology, politics and marketing, united by a vision to transform urban transport. Their experience spans international education, legal practice, startup growth and transport strategy, enabling scalable, regulatory-compliant solutions.

Since its launch, Wayla has recorded over 60,000 app downloads, positioning itself as a viable alternative to traditional transport.

The platform emphasizes simplicity and transparency, letting users book shared trips with clear cost and travel-time details. Service runs Wednesday to Sunday evenings in Milan, and Fridays and Saturdays in Monza and Brianza, offering a safe, eco-friendly and affordable option when public transport is limited.

“We are incredibly proud of this achievement,” adds Mario Ferretti, Co-founder of Wayla. “The response from the community shows that there is a strong need for smarter and more inclusive mobility solutions in Italy. We are now ready to accelerate the expansion of Wayla’s service and reach more and more people.”

Currently at €1.12 million on Mamacrowd, the funds will enable Wayla to add more sustainable vehicles, expand to additional Italian cities, and further develop its proprietary technology platform.

The roadmap also includes strengthening the B2B segment, offering customized van pooling solutions for corporate clients and event logistics.
