Bending Spoons Raises $710 Million at $11 Billion Valuation Following AOL Acquisition

Italian tech company Bending Spoons, known for buying and reviving old tech brands, has raised $710 million in a new funding round, giving it a value of $11 billion.

The news comes just a day after the company announced it is acquiring AOL, one of the internet’s most famous early companies.

The funding round was led by T. Rowe Price, with participation from Baillie Gifford, Cox Enterprises, Durable Capital Partners, Fidelity, and others.

Bending Spoons was last valued at $2.8 billion in 2024, meaning its value has grown nearly four times since then.

Luca Ferrari, co-founder and CEO of Bending Spoons, said “This moment is a validation of a decade’s worth of work and it serves as an important recognition of what we’ve accomplished at Bending Spoons so far.

“We remain early in our journey and have ambitious plans for continued investment and growth."

Out of the total $710 million raised, $270 million is new funding, while $440 million came from existing investors selling some of their shares in Bending Spoons.

This funding is supported by a $2.8 billion debt facility that the Italian company recently secured.

Bending Spoons plans to use the money to buy more companies and strengthen its artificial intelligence (AI) technology.

So far, the company has already acquired several well-known tech brands, including AOL, Vimeo, WeTransfer, and Evernote.
