UK-based Isembard, a software-first manufacturing company, has raised $9 million in Seed funding.
SUMMARY
- UK-based Isembard, a software-first manufacturing company, has raised $9 million in Seed funding.
Small manufacturers make up 95% of the precision manufacturing industry, but many are disappearing fast.
Most shop owners are over 65, and 40% plan to retire in the next five years, putting the entire industry at risk in Europe and North America.
At the same time, demand is rising. British companies plan to spend $650 billion in the next three years to bring manufacturing back home. But if small manufacturers keep closing, this gap between supply and demand could hurt the UK and its allies' ability to stay self-sufficient.

Isembard was founded to fix this problem. They’re building a new kind of manufacturing network using modular, highly automated units, all run by their own software platform, MasonOS.
By combining robotics, AI-powered planning, and a fresh business model, Isembard is making manufacturing faster, cheaper, and more reliable especially for key industries like defense and automation.
The company is already working with fast-growing European startups to deliver high-precision parts with better speed, lower cost, and higher quality than traditional methods.
According to Alexander Fitzgerald, Founder and CEO of Isembard:
"Manufacturing is the backbone of economic prosperity, national security and our collective purpose as humanity. Yet our industrial base is dying. We’re building a new model, one that decentralises production while driving efficiency through software and automation. With support from top investors who share our vision, we are forging industrial acceleration for the West."
The funding round was led by Notion Capital and supported by the UK Government’s National Security Strategic Investment Fund (NSSIF) and the German Federal Government.
Other investors include 201 Ventures, Basis Capital, Forward Fund, Material Ventures, Neverlift Ventures, and NP-Hard Ventures.
Jos White, General Partner at Notion Capital, added:
"Isembard is tackling one of the hardest, most ambitious challenges today, bringing software-driven transformation to precision manufacturing. Alex and his team have the vision, technical expertise, and relentless execution needed to redefine this space.”
