Amsterdam-based Hydryx, a startup on a mission to turn emissions into resources, announced that it has secures convertible loan of €350K from the Innovatiefonds Noord-Holland.

Three landfills will host demonstration projects thanks to the investment, which will also advance product development with better sensors and algorithms and make client acquisition and global expansion easier.

Anthonie Jacobson, co-founder of Hydryx, says, “We really see landfills as an underexposed part of the climate problem. Our mission is to reduce these emissions as quickly as possible and it is fantastic that the Innovatiefonds Noord-Holland is accelerating the approach to this problem with this funding.”

Ludolf Stavenga, fund manager of Innovatiefonds Noord-Holland, adds, “Hydryx offers a smart combination of hardware and software for a relevant problem in the market. With the financing from INH, Hydryx can show that this solution works on a larger scale.”

Through convertible loans for innovation in the Proof-of-Concept stage, the Province of Noord-Holland, University of Amsterdam, Vrije Universiteit, Hogeschool van Amsterdam, Amsterdam UMC, and Sanquin help entrepreneurs in the region through Innovatiefonds Noord-Holland.

It is creating technologies to extract methane from landfills and turn it into green electricity.
