SUMMARY
- Harvest House, one of Europe’s biggest cooperatives for greenhouse vegetables, is growing its partnership with Amsterdam-based AgTech company Source.ag.
Source.ag’s Harvest Forecast AI will now be used across all 600 hectares of Harvest House’s tomato farms. These farms supply fresh tomatoes to about 30 million consumers across Europe every year.

This expansion aims to solve a major challenge in farming—accurately predicting crop yields. Instead of using old manual methods and spreadsheets, Harvest House will use Source.ag’s AI platform, which gives daily updated forecasts for the next 60 days.
“This expansion underscores our commitment to innovation and sustainability,” said Yvonne Geurten, Commercial Director at Harvest House. “With Source.ag’s AI, we’re investing in unparalleled accuracy and timeliness in harvest forecasting, empowering us to reduce inefficiencies throughout the fresh produce supply chain.
"This reinforces our position as the leader in sustainable fresh produce production and highlights our shared vision to create more predictable and sustainable fresh produce supply chains.”
She added a call to action for the wider retail ecosystem: “To fully realise the benefits, demand/supply optimisation must be embraced throughout the entire supply chain. We urge major retailers to further strengthen demand forecasting efforts and collaborate more closely with growers to better align supply with demand, ensuring the benefits of smarter cultivation are realised across the entire supply chain.”
Harvest forecasting is a common problem in the fresh produce industry. When estimates are wrong, it can cause too much food to be grown, leading to waste and lost income. This problem is getting worse as climate change makes farming more unpredictable.
“Forecasting remains one of fresh produce’s greatest challenges and a key driver of waste and financial losses for growers and retailers,” said Rien Kamman, CEO and co-founder of Source.ag. “We are proud to support Harvest House in deploying AI-driven forecasting across all their tomato hectares.”
“This collaboration also comes at a critical time: as climate change intensifies, extreme weather events are increasingly putting global food security under pressure. Ensuring fresh produce remains available and affordable for consumers is more important than ever. This partnership directly contributes to that goal by improving predictability, reducing waste, and strengthening resilience in the food supply chain,” Kamman added.
Source.ag’s Harvest Forecast AI uses real-time crop data, past growth patterns, and special algorithms to provide accurate forecasts.
It predicts not just how much will be harvested but also details like product quality and harvest timing. The system connects directly to Harvest House’s management and planning tools becoming an important part of their digital setup as the industry evolves.
By combining forecasts for different product types, the AI helps match supply with demand better, boosting efficiency and reducing waste.
This bigger partnership shows a growing trend in farming: more use of digital tools and AI for smarter decisions. European greenhouse growers are facing challenges like worker shortages, high energy costs, and unpredictable markets, so automation and better forecasting are becoming key to staying competitive.
While many AgTech investments focus on hardware or new growing methods like vertical farming, companies like Source.ag are creating software to make traditional controlled-environment farming more efficient.
