SUMMARY
- Glint Solar, a software company for solar developers, has raised $8 million in Series A funding.
- Glint Solar was founded in 2020 by Harald Olderheim, Even Kvelland, and John Modin, a Norwegian startup that saw the need to speed up solar projects.
Glint Solar Offiering
Glint Solar’s platform helps solar developers assess and plan potential project sites. It combines customizable layout designs, yield estimates, and country-specific GIS data with topographic analysis.

The platform also gives teams full control over project data, including 3D project layouts. It is already used by solar developers and energy companies in over 35 countries, including Recurrent Energy, Statkraft, and E.ON, following a $3M Seed round in 2022.
Harald Olderheim, CEO and Co-founder of Glint Solar, said: “To counteract the effects of climate change, renewable energy needs to be adopted at a faster pace. The UN IPCC report says that 70-85% of the world’s electricity must come from renewable sources by 2050 to avoid the worst impacts of a warming planet. Luckily, utility-scale solar is quickly becoming the most cost-efficient form of energy one can build – in Texas, for example, it has overtaken coal as the most important energy source. The remaining factor is to also make solar energy development time efficient. Software is at the heart of the solution and this investment allows us to continue to push the boundaries of making complex, fragmented data and insights easily accessible, directly impacting the speed of global solar adoption.”
Since raising $3 million in its Seed round in 2022, Glint Solar has grown quickly, tripling its customer base in the past year. The software is now used by solar developers and energy companies of all sizes in over 35 countries, including Recurrent Energy, Statkraft, and E.ON.
Funding Utilisation
The new funding will help Glint Solar expand into new markets and enhance its product offerings for both existing and new customers. The company plans to grow its sales and product development teams, aiming to more than double its current team of 30 in the next year.
By 2025, Glint Solar aims to further revolutionize solar development with advanced tools and insights. The platform will expand to include new features, such as helping developers plan energy storage units with battery energy storage system (BESS) support.
About Glint Solar
Glint Solar was founded in 2020 by Harald Olderheim, Even Kvelland, and John Modin, a Norwegian startup that saw the need to speed up solar projects. While solar is a highly effective and affordable solution to combat climate change, many projects move too slowly. With 73% of solar companies' time spent on projects that never get approved, there’s a clear need for better tools and insights to help move solar development forward.
