Nesto, a Karlsruhe-based startup building an AI-driven platform for workforce management in the hospitality industry has raised €11 million in growth equity funding from Expedition Growth Capital.

The funding will be used to further enhance product development and accelerate the company’s expansion across European markets, strengthening its position in hospitality workforce management.

Founded in 2017 Nesto provides an AI-driven workforce management platform for restaurant groups. The system automates scheduling, HR workflows and payroll preparation helping hospitality businesses streamline operations.

The company addresses one of the biggest challenges in the industry labour being the highest controllable cost while many operators still depend on fragmented tools and manual processes. Nesto aims to improve profitability through an AI-native system that combines demand forecasting, workforce planning, and operational execution in one platform.

At its core, Nesto uses a proprietary forecasting engine that predicts demand and staffing needs in real time. By integrating data from POS systems, suppliers and payroll providers, it automates scheduling, HR tasks, and payroll workflows, enabling managers to operate more efficiently and improve labour productivity by up to 10%.

With the fresh capital, Nesto plans to expand its AI capabilities, strengthen its data platform and further develop NORA, its AI assistant and agent framework for operational and administrative workflows. The company also aims to accelerate its expansion into additional European markets.

Nesto is currently used across more than 3,000 restaurants, supporting over 100,000 employees daily, from independent restaurants to large chains. Its platform is trusted by leading brands such as McDonald's, L’Osteria and Lagardère Travel Retail.

Notably, the company has achieved this growth without institutional capital until now, highlighting strong product-market fit and rapid adoption in the hospitality sector.
