GEHECO funding news - Delft-based GEHECO has Raised €350k in Funding

GEHECO, a Delft-based company focused on carbon-neutral heating for buildings, has secured €350,000 in funding from UNIIQ, an investment fund for Zuid-Holland.

Funding Utilisation

This funding will help develop GEHECO’s drilling technology, which allows underground heat exchanger tubes to be installed in homes that are hard to reach with traditional methods.

Jasper Geselschap, fund manager at UNIIQ, says, “GEHECO’s innovation has the potential to transform the geothermal heat pump market. It makes sustainable heating more accessible to homeowners and contributes to a climate-neutral future.”

Making carbon-neutral heating easier

In the Netherlands, installing a water-water heat pump has usually been difficult, costly, and only possible in homes with enough space for large equipment.

GEHECO, a startup aiming to make these systems more accessible, has created a patented system that simplifies installation by "pushing" itself into the ground.

Arjen van der Horst, technical lead at GEHECO, says, “Our aim is to develop such a compact system that one can lay the piping for Brine heat pumps via the house’s crawl space hatch.”

This innovation lowers costs, speeds up installation, and reduces disruption, making geothermal systems possible in places where they were not suitable before, including cities.

GEHECO’s new drill tool, which installs wells from inside the home, helps make water-water heat pumps more available supporting the shift to cleaner energy and reducing CO2 emissions. The company focuses on sustainability and innovation by offering eco-friendly heating solutions.

This investment helps GEHECO get closer to its goal of making homes more sustainable and promoting geothermal energy as an eco-friendly heating option.

Onno Bierhoff, CEO of GEHECO, says, “This investment will help us further develop the technology, conduct technical demonstrations at The Green Village in Delft and bring it to the market. Our solution makes it possible for homeowners to switch to geothermal energy efficiently and in an environmentally friendly way, even with limited space. This makes the water-water heat pump a viable alternative!”

About GEHECO

GEHECO is developing a simpler and cheaper way to install water-water heat pump wells. Their solution is more compact, allowing it to create wells in places where current methods can't.
