Floatech will use the new funding to grow its Si⋮Coil battery platform. The company plans to scale up production, boost battery output, and get ready for the market.
The money will also help test the technology in different industrial environments.
Floatech CEO, Fernando Celaya, mentions in a statement, “This round gives us the necessary impetus to bring our technology to market in industrial conditions.”
Floatech develops parts for lithium-ion batteries, mainly focusing on silicon anodes. Their production process avoids using solvents and polymers, making it easier to scale, more eco-friendly, and cost-effective.
Floatech, based in Getafe, runs a 1 MWh demo facility and is a spin-off from the IMDEA Materials Institute. Its battery tech is aimed at electric vehicles, personal electronics, and light aircraft, focusing on faster charging, longer range, and lower environmental impact.
Floatech recently wrapped up its work on the EU-funded E-BOOST project, which aimed to support sustainable mobility.
Key results include a design for silane production, successful testing of silane in nano-silicon anodes, and a strategy for sourcing materials in a compliant way.
