SUMMARY

  • Swiss startup FireDrone has secured €161,000 (CHF 150,000) in funding from Venture Kick to advance the development of its heat-resistant drones designed for use in extreme environments.

Firefighters and industrial safety teams face major risks in high-temperature environments like burning buildings or industrial furnaces, where heat, toxic smoke, and unstable structures make operations dangerous. Conventional drones can’t function under such conditions, limiting real-time insights.

FireDrone, a spin-off from Empa creates heat-resistant drones that can operate in extreme temperatures of up to 200°C. Equipped with advanced insulation and cooling systems, these drones provide real-time hazard insights, improve safety, and help teams make quicker, smarter decisions.

FireDrone targets two main areas high-temperature industrial inspections and public safety. Its initial market spans sectors like cement, steel, aluminium, waste-to-energy, fertiliser, and glass production, along with first-response operations where conventional drones fail due to extreme heat and smoke.

In these industries, FireDrone helps reduce downtime, enhance worker safety, and meet regulatory standards through real-time monitoring.

The new funding will fuel its go-to-market efforts by expanding the business development team, building distribution and maintenance partnerships, securing product certifications, and converting pilot projects into pre-orders across key industries.
