ElevenLabs Announces Matthew McConaughey As Early Backer

McConaughey will also collaborate on a Spanish-language audio version of his newsletter, “Lyrics of Livin’,” as announced at ElevenLabs’ inaugural Summit.

The company said the project will use ElevenLabs’ technology to clone McConaughey’s voice, enabling the audio to be produced without him speaking Spanish.

A week ago, ElevenLabs partnered with British actor Sir Michael Caine, making his voice available on the ElevenReader app and the new Iconic Marketplace, which connects creators with famous talent.

The Iconic Marketplace offers a curated collection of licensed voices for studios, brands, and storytellers. At launch, it includes over 25 voices, such as Dr. Maya Angelou, Alan Turing, Liza Minnelli, and Art Garfunkel.

ElevenLabs was founded in 2022 by Piotr Dąbkowski, a former Google machine learning engineer and Mati Staniszewski, a former Palantir deployment strategist. The company focuses on natural speech synthesis and AI audio technology, creating realistic and context-aware voices, speech and sound effects in 32 languages.

Its tools serve individuals, businesses, and creative professionals for applications such as audiobooks, character animation, media localisation, dynamic content and accessibility solutions. The company prioritises the safe development and use of AI voice technology.

In September, NVIDIA invested an undisclosed amount in ElevenLabs as part of its £2B UK AI startup strategy, focusing on hubs like London and Cambridge. In August, ElevenLabs also launched Eleven Music, a platform that lets users create studio-quality music from text prompts, developed in collaboration with artists, labels, and publishers while protecting content rights.
