SUMMARY

  • EIGHT is raising a €3 million Seed round to expand its video-first dating platform across four European markets over the next two years.

The startup has already secured over €256.6K, with funding split between a venture capital firm and angel investors.

EIGHT founded in 2025 and offers a simple video first dating experience. Instead of swiping users join each evening for live 8 minute video dates helping them connect more naturally and build genuine relationships.

Profiles are verified through short video introductions to reduce fake accounts, while an in-app AI coach helps users improve their dating experience. The app is available on iOS and Android.

EIGHT reports over 15,000 users with strong engagement metrics, including high retention and conversion rates, achieved with minimal marketing spend. The platform has already generated early revenue and continues to see steady user growth.

With new funding, the company plans to expand across Europe, starting with Portugal, followed by the UK, Spain, and another market, while investing in marketing, product development, and team growth.

“Dating apps are broken. People are tired of swiping endlessly and having conversations that go nowhere. EIGHT brings back what dating should be about: real human connection. We give people 8 minutes of face-to-face time with someone new every evening, and the results speak for themselves. Our retention numbers prove that when you build a product that actually delivers on its promise, people come back. We are now ready to bring this experience to the rest of Europe,” Miguel Moreira da Cruz, CEO and co-founder, EIGHT.
