SUMMARY
- Arnhem-based Deftpower, a provider of AI-powered electric vehicle charging solutions, has raised €12.5 million to accelerate its expansion across Europe and enhance its smart charging technology.
The funding round was led by Endeit Capital, with continued support from existing backers Proeza Ventures, 4impact Capital, Rethink Mobility, and business angel Jan Fredriks.
“We know charging your EV is both too expensive and too complicated today and the aggregator role we foresee for the MSP will tie the room together as it should. All players, including EV drivers, charge point operators and grid operators benefit financially from Deftpower’s charging platform,” says Deftpower CEO Jacob van Zonneveld.
Founded in 2020 by Jacob van Zonneveld, Marc Diks, and Remco Tjeerdsma, Deftpower is a Dutch tech company developing an AI-powered EV charging platform for the European market. Through white-label solutions for eMobility service providers, the platform helps millions of electric vehicles charge at optimal times benefiting drivers, the environment, and the power grid.

With support from the EU EIC Accelerator and a €2.5 million grant, Deftpower is tackling Europe’s growing grid congestion challenges. Unlike traditional charging platforms Deftpower’s scalable system can handle millions of transactions with efficiency and transparency, cutting operational costs and improving the user experience.
The platform predicts charging needs before a vehicle is even plugged in and shifts energy use to times when renewable power is plentiful and prices are low. This reduces CO₂ emissions, eases pressure on the grid, and saves money—potentially shifting two-thirds of charging to off-peak hours.
“As a lead investor, we see Deftpower as uniquely positioned to be the backbone of Europe’s EV charging future, one where cost savings, carbon reduction, and grid stability go hand in hand. Their AI-driven approach is exactly what the energy transition needs at scale,” said Sara Resvik, Partner Endeit Capital.
Europe’s power grids are under growing pressure, with congestion costing the economy billions and leading to costly infrastructure upgrades. Simply building more grid capacity can’t keep up with the rising electricity demand from electrification. Deftpower takes a smarter approach shifting demand to align with renewable energy supply, rather than ramping up production.
By using Deftpower’s platform, up to two-thirds of EV charging can be moved from peak to off-peak hours, reducing strain on the grid and increasing the use of clean, affordable electricity.
Today, Deftpower’s white-label eMobility Service Provider (eMSP) solution is already powering over 40 clients in 10 European countries, helping to build a more flexible and resilient energy system.
