Dublin’s DevAlly Secures €2M To Simplify Compliance With Europe’s Accessibility Law

Oct 10, 2025 | By Kailee Rainse

Dublin-based DevAlly, a startup supporting businesses in meeting Europe’s new accessibility regulations, has secured €2 million in pre-seed funding.

The round was led by Belgian fund Miles Ahead Capital, with backing from NDRC, Enterprise Ireland, and European angel investors, to scale its AI-driven accessibility platform and expand its team.

Founded in 2024 by Irish entrepreneurs Cormac Chisholm and Patrick Guiney, DevAlly is among the first startups leveraging technology to help businesses comply with the European Accessibility Act (EAA), effective June 2025. Similar to the GDPR, the EAA sets accessibility standards for websites, apps and digital products across the EU, with hefty fines for non-compliance.

DevAlly’s AI-powered platform automatically detects accessibility issues, including missing captions or poor color contrast, tracks user-reported problems, generates reports, and integrates accessibility into product development. Combining human expertise with AI and large language models (LLMs) it delivers scalable, continuous accessibility testing beyond traditional manual audits.

“The thing that surprised us most was that even massive companies were coming to us two weeks before the deadline saying, ‘Oh, we didn’t know anything about this,’” said CEO and Co-founder Cormac Chisholm. “Good design is accessible design. One in five people live with a disability, and disability can also be situational – for instance, heavy glare on your screen or holding a baby with one hand. Universal design benefits everyone.”

The company will use the new funding to grow its team from five to fifteen employees by year-end, mainly in Dublin, where it joined the NDRC accelerator via Dogpatch Labs for Enterprise Ireland. Backed by Miles Ahead Capital, DevAlly also aims to enter the US market, starting sales in San Francisco, leveraging connections with accessibility leaders made during TechCrunch Disrupt’s Startup Battlefield 2024.

Co-founder and Chief Revenue Officer Patrick Guiney said, “A lot of our customers right now are on the West Coast. We’re positioning ourselves as a bridge to Europe for US companies that want to meet EAA compliance requirements efficiently.”

The European Accessibility Act has driven strong demand for solutions like DevAlly’s, as businesses rush to update digital platforms. Competitors, such as Barcelona-based QualiBooth, are entering the space, but DevAlly aims to help both European and US firms meet accessibility standards while enhancing user experiences for all.

Growing awareness is also motivated by economic incentives: disabled consumers and their households account for an estimated €7.5 trillion in annual disposable income globally. As Chisholm notes, features like Netflix captions or accessible mobile design often improve experiences for everyone.

“The improvements that come with accessibility become massive advancements in how we all use technology,” Chisholm said. “It’s a much better form of design.”
