SUMMARY
- Dryad Networks is a leader in early wildfire detection technology has announced a €3.8 million grant from the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) to enhance its wildfire prevention solutions.
- Dryad provides early wildfire detection and monitors forest health and growth using solar-powered gas sensors in a large IoT sensor network.
The grant will help develop Dryad’s innovative wildfire suppression project, called “Florian,” which uses autonomous drones to fight wildfires right from the start.
In addition to the ILB grant, Dryad has secured €2.5 million from First Imagine!, a major climate-tech investor. This brings their total funding from an April financing round to €8.9 million.
Funding Utilisation
With this new funding, Dryad aims to expand its Silvanet wildfire detection platform and advance the Florian project, which combines AI early detection with immediate suppression capabilities.

Carsten Brinkschulte, CEO and co-founder of Dryad Networks, said, “We’re excited about this funding from ILB, which will greatly advance our ‘Florian’ project. Together with the investment from First Imagine!, we are ready to transform wildfire management. Our goal is to detect wildfires early and suppress them quickly to protect communities, ecosystems, and infrastructure.”
Boris Dorin, a partner at First Imagine!, commented, “Dryad’s innovative approach to wildfire detection and suppression is exactly the kind of technology we want to support. As wildfires become more frequent and intense due to climate change the need for proactive solutions is urgent. We’re thrilled to partner with Dryad Networks to protect critical ecosystems and create a more resilient future.”
Dryad is developing Florian to quickly and effectively suppress these fires. Florian will use a fleet of autonomous drones equipped with fire suppression technology, such as acoustic waves, to extinguish wildfires before they spread. These drones will be set up in high-risk forests to respond quickly.
